Rock Idols: A new vision of Dartmoor's tors.
A Book Talk with Sophie Pierce and Alex Murdin

Join artist Alex Murdin and writer Sophie Pierce for an evening exploring the magic and mystery of Dartmoor. Their new book, Rock Idols: a guide to Dartmoor in 28 tors, is thought to be the first illustrated guide to Dartmoor in about a century, with new, original drawings of these mysterious monoliths. Sophie and Alex will share their adventures exploring the tors, as well as some of the fascinating folklore, geology and history of Dartmoor.

Join Nicholas as he launches his new book, Monsterland
Delve into stories about monsters from all over the world, meeting people who celebrate these stories today and travelling to the places where some of the most macabre and magical stories are rooted, to find out why humans have told stories about monsters across the ages, how these stories have changed and how they have endured.

Restoring Nature 2025
Our inaugural Restoring Nature festival hosted by Ambios at Lower Sharpham Farm was in 2022, and now we are all set for Restoring Nature 2025 Same fantastic location, more fantastic authors encouraging discussion and debate, and a friendly convivial festival for like-minded people to get together and celebrate nature.

Between The Covers: 9 Songs for Bibliophiles with musician, artist and book-lover Paul Armfield
On: Friday 23rd May at The East Gate Bookshop.

We are absolutely stoked to be part of Paul's tour to promote his new album Between The Covers – 9 Songs For Bibliophiles features 9 songs about books and reading. Due for release 16th May 2025 the vinyl album and cd will only be available from this site or at gigs such as our. You can preorder here or buy from Paul himself on the night. Here's a link to 3 songs from a recent live bookshop concert to give you a better idea of what Paul does.

Last year Paul released an EP of songs about trees and was invited by Mark Radcliffe to perform some of the songs live on his Radio 2 Folk Show (you can hear the performance and interview here)
